The Plan was adopted by the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority in November 2006 following eighteen months of work that had been overseen by a Steering Group of key partners.  Initial preparation of the document’s main subject chapters was given to seven small drafting groups made up of National Park Authority members and staff together with representatives of organisations with an interest in the subjects.  

Consultation was carried out on the resulting draft document, with copies sent to 277 authorities and organisations.  The document was also made available on the Authority’s website with an open invitation for anyone to comment.  The exercise generated 41 responses, which were analysed in a report to the National Park Authority.  To view this report, click on the link below.

A Strategic Environmental Assessment of the final Management Plan has been carried out, as required by European Directive 2001/42/EC. This tested the document against environmental objectives to determine the likely effects of its implementation.
