Progress update:

The National Park Authority's “Parish Wildlife Project” works with community groups to develop and manage new wildlife sites across the National Park. There are currently 13 sites in active management. In 2010/11, new projects were set up at: Cowgill in Dentdale (creating a wildflower meadow, orchard and native hedgerow); at Stainforth (creating another orchard and introducing native wildflowers to parts of the village greens); and, Clapham (creating bumblebee habitat and carrying out bumblebee box trials in association with local children).

The Project will provide ongoing advice and support to the existing and new groups in developing and managing their community wildlife projects.
