Progress update:

Since 2000 the National Park Authority has been surveying and mapping important habitats across the Park (see objective NC7). This has been supplemented by surveys carried out by Natural England on SSSIs. Amalgamating this data, the first Park-wide habitat map was produced in 2008.

The Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority is contributing this data to a project lead by Forest Research to produce a "habitat network" map of the whole of the Yorkshire & Humber Region by the end of 2011. The Authority will then use this map  to identify opportunities for strengthening habitat networks within the Yorkshire Dales.
