Best Building Design Awards 2010

The Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority’s Best Building Design Awards for 2010 came to a successful conclusion with the announcement of the winners in September 2010. If you would like a copy of the finished brochure please email the Planning Service or phone 01969 652345.

The Awards aimed to promote examples of both innovative and sensitive development and received entries of buildings that ranged from private houses and pubs to a domestic weaving studio and a barn.

The judges were:

  • eminent international architect, Robin Snell

  • well known locally-based conservation architect, Paul Crosby

  • National Park Authority Member, Stuart Parsons

  • the National Park Authority’s then Deputy Head of Planning, Andrew McCullagh.

We would like to thank everyone who entered and congratulate the winners.

Innovation

Conversion

Winner: Weaving Studio, High Brigflatts, Sedbergh

Highly commended: Craven Arms Cruck Barn, Appletreewick

Extension or alteration

Joint winners (extension): Ronan Garth, West Burton and Hawes Junction Chapel, Garsdale

Winner (alteration): Hambledon House, Airton

Highly commended: West Burton Primary School

Restoration

Winner (historic restoration): The Hogg House, Healaugh

Winner (restoration for re-use): Reachey, Grisedale
