Don’t forget to print out the map we have provided as well because sometimes the numbered stopping points can be hard to find unless you know what you are looking for. We also always recommend that you bring an Ordnance Survey map if you are going for a walk in the National Park. Maps of the National Park are available to buy from our online shop.

Dent Conservation Area
The Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority designated the town of a Dent as a conservation area to help protect its special historic character. This mp3 trail takes you around the conservation area and tells some of the stories hidden in its buildings. The route is relatively flat but includes uneven, cobbled surfaces. It should take you about an hour to do, longer if you visit the Dent Heritage Centre or spend time in the church. The trail starts from Dent car park.

Grassington
This Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority mp3 trail will take you on a voyage of discovery through 10,000 years of history around Grassington. Thanks to Natural England and the local farmer you can freely explore much of the land this trail runs through because it is covered by an Environmental Stewardship Scheme funded by Natural England allowing open access. The conservation of the landscape and its features is one of the main purposes of environmental funding that farmers have benefited from over the last 20 years. This farmer in particular is looking after the walling pattern, historic features, permanent grassland, woodland and limestone grassland found on his farm.

Lower Wharfedale
A popular walk in the Grassington area starting from Grassington National Park Centre. There is a large car park (charge) and there are regular bus connection.
Malhamdale
A well-known walk in the Malham area starting from Malham National Park Centre and car park. There is a large car park (charge) and there are regular bus connections.
Nethergill Farm, Langstrothdale
This audio trail in remote Langstrothdale has been produced in partnership with farmer Chris Clark whose voice you will hear now and again on the audio talking about some of his farm’s special features. Chris asked us to create this trail to showcase the conservation work he is undertaking as part of the Higher Level Stewardship (HLS) scheme that he entered the farm into in 2011. The trail is on private land and accessible by permit only. Please contact the farm on 01756 761126 or email Fiona Clark (fiona.clark@nethergill.co.uk) to get a permit and a map of the route. We are sorry but dogs are not allowed.
Ribblehead
This trail was created with the help of the Friends of the Settle-Carlisle Railway and it starts at Ribblehead station near the famous Ribblehead Viaduct.
Ribblesdale
A river valley walk in Ribblesdale starting from Stainforth National Park car park (charge). There are toilets and a picnic area at the car park and regular bus connections.
Swaledale
A river valley walk in Swaledale starting from Muker car park (charge). There are regular bus connections up Swaledale.
