A self-sufficient and carbon neutral biomass heating system is in place at the Sunhill Conference and Activity Centre, Rylstone with support from the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority’s Sustainable Development Fund. A local farmer and landowner is using his own wood to heat seven business units and an activity centre catering for disadvantaged groups.

The new sustainable heating system will reduce heating costs and ensure the economic viability of the centre for its users. Neglected woodlands are being regenerated and new woodland created with extraction being matched by new growth.
